Overview
We are seeking a Procurement Specialist to lead a dynamic blend of strategic and tactical procurement responsibilities. This senior-level role requires a data-driven professional who can leverage analytics to inform sourcing decisions, optimize category performance, and drive cost efficiencies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in vendor management and contract negotiations, building and maintaining supplier relationships while securing favorable terms. In addition, this role is responsible for managing high-volume purchasing activities, ensuring supply continuity, and aligning procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
What you will need
- Proven experience in purchasing, buying, and managing high-volume procurement in fast-paced environments.
- Strong background in forecasting, inventory control, and overall supply chain processes (including demand planning).
- Extensive experience leading contract negotiations and delivering cost savings/value improvements.
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies and category management best practices.
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Excellent time management, prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Confident communicator and negotiator.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
How you will make an Impact
- Support acceptable fill rates across all branches and distribution centers by ensuring that inventory levels are maintained at appropriate levels to minimize stock outs and excess inventory while maintaining fill rate goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and analyze market trends and apply this to making insightful buying decisions.
- Become proficient in SIQ to ensure forecasting is accurate and item data is working properly to minimize out of stock, and fill rate hits.
- Communicate any supply problems which may impact the company operations to management.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and problem-solving ability.
- Proactively monitor backorder situations and ensure that the necessary inventory planning changes are made to eliminate the problem in the future.
- Prepare and submit weekly KPI reports.
- Follow-up on KPIs and metrics to optimize the procurement process.
- Make purchase decisions in accordance with company procedures and regulations.
