The Travel Agent directs, administers, and monitors the travel policies, guidelines, and budgets for the company. They make business travel arrangements for executives and employees as needed. They are responsible for optimizing travel operations, making travel arrangements over the phone or Internet, providing guidance on travel arrangements, and preparing budget reports.
What you will need
- A bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality, or Travel; or 3 - 5 years of experience in the Travel industry.
- Knowledge of travel management processes.
- Sabre or GDS experience required.
- Advanced verbal and written English language skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and MS Outlook).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of geography.
- Maintain positive relationships with vendors of direct travel, such as car rental agencies, hotels, and airlines.
- Negotiate preferred rates with vendors of direct travel.
- Plan travel accommodations: book flights, hotels, car rentals, and coordinate related activities.
- Research travel deals and assess prices and services.
- Arrange travel accommodation for business visitors.
- Create, optimize, and monitor corporate travel policies.
- Prepare travel budget reports.
- Analyze and prepare reports on travel spending.
- Assist with any travel-related issues that may arise.
- Ability to meet all travel arrangement needs, including being available evenings and weekends to respond in the event of an urgent travel service issue.
