Overview
The Director of Supplier Management is responsible for the performance of the Product team and OS & D team. The Product team is responsible for negotiations with suppliers to obtain merchandise at appropriate prices, deliveries, and quantities to fulfill and meet customer demand. The Director is responsible for product quality for all suppliers and develops and enhances strategic alliances with all key suppliers and ensures all suppliers achieve and maintain targeted fill-rates with the shortest possible lead times. In addition, he/she is responsible overall product management, people management, understanding of the customer, product development, requirements analysis, pricing, planning, competitive analysis, sales planning, inventory control, financial planning, and strategy.
This role manages and supervises the work of the Category Managers, and participates in the recruiting, hiring, and training of new employees, approves timecards, administers performance reviews, and applies disciplinary measures as appropriate, all while coaching and developing their employees to be successful at Chadwell Supply.
What you will need
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration is preferred; or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the same or similar role.
- Experience with an automated buying system, generally accepted purchasing methodology, and buying formulas.
- Demonstrated success in planning, executing, and managing projects.
- Expertise in the product or market including specific technical or industry knowledge.
- A financial aptitude for understanding and facilitating profitable fulfillment.
- Strong analytical ability and ability to consolidate demand from multiple sources.
- Strong time management abilities, including planning and prioritizing workloads.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Impeccable attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
- Advanced skill with MS Office products.
- Superior project management skills.
- Serve as an in-house expert for Chadwell Supply products and become the go-to person for all functional issues.

How you will make an Impact
- Drive the execution of all product lifecycle processes for products, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, roadmap development, requirements development, and product launch.
- Assess market competition by comparing Chadwell Supply’s product to competitors' products.
- Analyze consumer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships.
- Provide information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product forecasts and special reports and analyses, answering questions and requests.
- Facilitate inventory turnover and product availability.
- Determine product pricing by utilizing market research data.
- Negotiate programs with suppliers that would include advertising agreements, rebates, terms conversion and vendor funds.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the product, market, and competition.
- Evaluate suppliers for performance compliance.
- Assist the Purchasing team with supplier issues.
- Enable analytics-driven decision making to evolve products and usage.
- Measure, analyze and manage the performance of suppliers to reduce cost, alleviate risk and drive continuous improvement for the Purchasing department.
- Create, negotiate, implement, and manage long term purchase agreements while effectively developing and promoting strategic partnerships with suppliers.
- Identify, approve, and set up of new products.
- Identify and develop plans to remove products that are deadstock.
- Utilize the Enable software program to ensure Chadwell Supply is receiving all rebates/funds from our suppliers.
- Conduct executive level supplier negotiations and joint business plans.
- Develop and coach Category Managers to improve vendor strategy and results.
